Balancing our nutrition while juggling all the other balls involved with motherhood can be hard! When my toddler doesn't eat anything beside mac and cheese, its really hard not to also indulge in the gooey goodness.  (Y'all mac and cheese is my FAV!)

Whether you've never looked at a nutrition label in your life or you are healthy-ish (like me), there's always room for growth.  As with any goal, it all start with small steps.  You simply need to begin

Here are 3 simple ways you can improve your nutrition.

1.  Don't drink your calories.

Calories that sneak in through beverages are usually forgotten.  Fruit juices, soda,  and alcohol are loaded with calories and provide minimal, if any nutritional value.  It is said the average American drinks 400 calories on a daily basis!

Our bodies are most efficient when drinking water.  Plus, you'll feel much more satisfied if you eat your calories rather than drink them.

(PS- I'm not suggesting you have to give up all the wine, I simply want you to be aware of what that is adding to your calorie intake! Cuz we all know I'm healthy-ish and that beer is not going anywhere!)

2. Slow down.

Many people eat their food quickly and carelessly. It takes approximately 20 minutes from the time you start eating for you brain to send out signals of fullness.  Leisurely eating allows ample time to trigger the signal from your brain that you are full.  And feeling full translates to eating less.

3. Add more veggies.

Veggies have a low calorie content and are rich in nutrients and antioxidants which boost your health and help fight off disease.  Adding veggies to every meal can help improve your nutrition. Try making veggie noodles, add veggies to your pasta sauce, blend them into smoothies, try a breakfast salad, or add them to your eggs.

The Bottom Line

Completely overhauling your nutrition all at once can be a recipe for disaster.  Instead, try to incorporate these few small changes!
