I have 5 minutes to get out the door and my toddler is having
a meltdown as I am sprinting through the house looking for her tablet to
hopefully minimize the screaming in the car on the way to Grandma’s house. (Seriously
how can a 2 year old hate the car so much?!) This was me last week… Can you
relate?
Whatever your #momlife looks like, mornings can get pretty chaotic and one little thing can set your kiddo into full tantrum mode and throw off the entire day. I can’t provide any guarantee that you won’t have crazy mornings, because let’s be real here… BUT I do have a few tips that help reduce the chaos and make your morning mom routine a little bit easier!
Prepare the Night Before
If you are part of my Facebook community you know how much I
preach about morning routines but it is equally important to have an evening
routine. Everything you do the night
before to prepare for the next day will have a positive impact on how your
morning goes.
You wake up the kiddo, pick out their clothes, help them get dressed, try to find their shoes, pack lunches, make and eat breakfast, try to find their backpack, then try to convince them that they should get in the car. There are probably a lot of “hurry-ups!”, “we gotta go!”, “mommas going to be late!” Does this sound familiar?
Hello Stress!!
If we spend a few minutes the night before t think about the day ahead, you will be so much more relaxed and easy going in the morning.
Here are a few things to prep the night before:
Get Up Before the Kids
Listen up momma – getting yourself dressed and ready to go before the kids are awake is an absolute game changer! I know we all love our sleep and I never used to refer to myself as a “morning person,” but the simple act of starting the day on my own terms has absolutely changed my life!
When you are dressed and prepared to leave before you even wake them up it makes everything so much easier. (Seriously, I even try to load as much as possible in the car before I wake the sleeping beauty!) Instead of feeling like you are running around trying to get everyone (including yourself) ready, you will be able to focus on helping them while knowing you are all set to go.
Don't Hit Snooze
That snooze button is tempting – especially when we are
exhausted doing all of our mom things. Someone once told me that hitting snooze
is starting your day with a broker promise to yourself. Ouch! If you set your alarm and know you can
hit that 10 minute snooze one time then you have to get up… just set you alarm
for 10 minutes later. Seriously! Hitting
snooze will make you feel even more tired and sluggish. So get up and go! Grab that coffee and get
yourself ready to take on the day before the munchkins come alive!
There you have it momma! Just a few tips to help start your day on the right note!
